BEIJING: Chinesearchaeologists on Wednesday excavated a 4,500-year-old city NeolithicChinese city in easternAnhui Province.
北京：周三，中国考古学家在安徽省发掘了一座距今4500年的新石器时期古城遗址。
Part of a trapezoidal city wall and moat from the Nanchengzi Ruins inGuzhen County have been uncovered, along with agreat number of houses, according to archaeologists from WuhanUniversity.
武汉大学考古学家称，他们已经发掘了部分固镇县南城孜遗址的梯形城墙和壕沟。
The archaeology team has also unearthed items from the NeolithicAge to the Han Dynasty, which dates back about 2,000 years.
考古团队还发现了从新石器时代一直延续到2000多年前汉代的文化遗存。
The items include deer heads and antlers, tortoise shells and wheat and riceseeds, state-runXinhua newsagency reported.
国家新闻媒体新华社报道，这些物品鹿头、鹿角、龟甲以及小麦和水稻的种子。
"The discovery is very valuable for research on historical, social andenvironmental changes in the area," said He Xiaolin, professor andarchaeologist from Wuhan University.
武汉大学考古学教授何晓林（音译）说：“这些发现对于研究这一地区的历史，社会环境变迁有重要价值。”
The Nanchengzi Ruins were first found in the 1980s when archaeologicalauthorities believed the site was an ancient settlement.

They only identified the ruins as part of a larger city after they discoveredthe city wall on Wednesday
考古学家在周三发现城墙后确定遗址只是整座城市的一部分。
