這個版本的6項保證是: (我去掉很多標點方便閱讀)

(1) [W]e did not agree to set a date certain for ending arms sales to Taiwan

(2) [W]e see no mediation role for the United States between Taiwan and
the PRC

(3) [N]or will we attempt to exert pressure on Taiwan to enter into
negotiations with the PRC

(4) [T]here has been no change in our longstanding position on the issue
of sovereignty over Taiwan
大意就是對台灣主權的立場不變

(5) We have no plans to seek revisions to the Taiwan Relations Act; and

(6) the August 17 Communique, should not be
read to imply that we have agreed to engage in prior
consultations with Beijing on arms sales to Taiwan.

之前寫得超明白超嗆的第6點已經不在了，取得代之的隱晦模糊的第4點。
很符合美國一貫的模糊戰略，一天到晚滿嘴立場不變

那美國對台主權立場到底他媽的是什麼?!

The United States has its own “one China” policy (vs. the PRC’s “one China
” principle) and position on Taiwan’s status.
Not recognizing the PRC’s claim over Taiwan nor Taiwan as a
sovereign state, U.S. policy has considered Taiwan’s status as unsettled.
Since a declaration by President Truman on June 27, 1950, during the
Korean War, the United States has supported a future determination of the
island’s status in a peaceful manner.
The United States did not state a stance on the sovereign status of
Taiwan in the three U.S.-PRC Joint  Communiques of 1972, 1979, and 1982.
The United States simply “acknowledged” the “one China”position of both
sides of the Taiwan Strait. Washington has not promised to end arms sales
to Taiwan for its selfdefense, although the Mutual Defense Treaty of 1954
terminated on December 31, 1979.
U.S. policy does not support or oppose Taiwan’s independence; U.S. policy
takes a neutral position of“non-support” for Taiwan’s independence.
U.S. policy leaves the Taiwan question to be resolved by the people on both
sides of the strait: a “peaceful resolution,” with the assent of
Taiwan’s people in a democratic manner, and without unilateral changes.
In short, U.S. policy focuses on the process of resolution of the Taiwan
question, not any set outcome.

只翻幾個重點:

1. 美國有一中政策，這個和中國的一中原則不一樣

2. 美國不承認PRC對台灣的主權聲索，也不承認台灣是獨立國家，美國認為台灣主權未定

3. 美國在3個聯合公報中沒有對台灣主權表示立場，僅認知到海峽兩岸對一個中國的立場

4. 美國不支持也不反對台灣獨立

5. 美國在"不支持台灣獨立"中採取中立立場 (我猜這個意思是你真的採取獨立行動
，美國也不會制裁你，但可能會袖手旁觀)

6. 美國的一中政策著重在解決台灣問題的過程而非特定結果 (很有美國官話的感覺)
