The Los Angeles Lakers kicked the tires on a Derrick Rose trade with the Detro
it Pistons at the 2020 NBA trade deadline, but a deal wasn’t made for a varie
ty of reasons.

However, one NBA general manager, who spoke to Sean Deveney of Heavy, believes
 Rose to the Lakers is “more likely” to happen this offseason.

Derrick Rose has one year left on his contract with the Pistons. The former MV
P averaged 18.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game for the Pistons
in 2019-20 while shooting 49.0 percent from the field, 30.6 percent from beyon
d the arc and 87.1 percent from the free throw line.

The Lakers could lose Rajon Rondo this offseason, as he’s expected to test th
e free agent market. Since Rose has a close relationship with Lakers superstar
 big man and fellow Chicago native Anthony Davis, Los Angeles general manager
Rob Pelinka could make a move to acquire the youngest MVP in NBA history once
the 2020 transaction period begins.

Since entering the NBA as the No. 1 overall pick by the Chicago Bulls in 2008,
 Rose has compiled averages of 18.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists with
the Bulls, New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Pi
stons.
