Aaron Miles is a name Dub Nation might know pretty well with time.

The former Kansas point guard is reportedly being hired as the next head
coach for the Warriors’ G League affiliate in Santa Cruz, according to G
League writer Adam Johnson of 2ways10days.com on Tuesday. Speculation has
already begun over the potential Golden State sees in Miles, who replaces
Casey Hill.

為新的總教練。一般猜測是勇士高層認為Aaron Miles有教練的潛力。

One report mentions a Warriors goal of fostering the relationship between
Miles and Golden State head coach Steve Kerr, who has dealt several times
with health issues stemming from back surgery in 2015.
一篇報導提到勇士開始幫忙建立Miles跟教練Kerr之間的關係；Kerr在2015年接受背部手術
後有好幾次因為健康因素必須休息。

“The Warriors believe Miles’ career of both successes and setbacks will
give him a genuine ability to connect with players,” wrote Mike Vernon of
Bleacher Report in a Medium article connecting Miles with the Golden State
coaching gig. “While they want to grow players, it will also benefit The
Program to grow coaches.”

Miles’ history suggests he may have the on-court vision to follow Kerr’s
path off the court, especially considering he entered coaching because of an
injury, even though he didn’t have Kerr’s prolific playing career. Here’s

Miles’ entrance into coaching came after he suffered a torn labrum in 20

Recruited to Kansas by coach Roy Williams for his speed and passing ability,
Miles is ninth in NCAA history with 954 assists (a Big 12 record) over his
four seasons with the Jayhawks. For some perspective, that places him three
spots ahead of Oakland legend Gary Payton (939)


Miles also went to two Final Fours playing beside fellow star guard Kirk
Hinrich — an electric combination that was ahead of its time, though not
necessarily on the level of the Splash Brothers. He most recently served as
an assistant coach with Florida Gulf Coast after entering into coaching as an
assistant director of student-athlete development at Kansas for the 2015–16
season.


He played 19 games with the Warriors as an undrafted rookie in 2005-06,
scoring 16 total points to go with 24 assists and 14 rebounds in 118 minutes
of action. Miles later played in France, Spain, Greece and Russia before
suffering a torn labrum that required surgery in 2015 — setting up his
blooming career in coaching.


Who knows, maybe Miles will make it all the way to the NBA ranks and
eventually win a championship with the Warriors. Then Dub Nation will
certainly memorize his name.
