MLB Team Sponsorship Revenue Grew To $1.5 Billion In 2023, Report Shows

According to a report, Major League Baseball saw an explosion of sponsorship revenue pour into the league in 2023, growing by $1.5 billion over 2022. ...

 

The report by SponsorUnited, a global sports and entertainment intelligence plat
form, shows that among the 30 teams sponsorship revenues increased to $1.5 billi
on, or +23% over 2022.

The report shows that 500 new sponsors engaged with Major League Baseball this s
eason across 30 different categories with Food, Hotel/Restaurant, and Constructi
on/Industrial as leading advertiser sectors. This huge influx has pushed Major L
eague Baseball ahead of the NFL and NHL by total volume.

By sector, financial institutions dwarfed all others, largely due to uniform pat
ch deals with the likes of MassMutual, NorthwesternNWE +2% Mutual, Stifel and TD
 Bank. All told, financial sponsors account for more than $200 million in team s
ponsor revenue, an increase of +38 over 2022.

The report also highlights key sponsors for MLB’s jewel events with Capital One
 engaged with three (London Series, All-Star Game, Little Classic), with T-Mobil
e (Home Run Derby, Little League Classic), Gatorade (Home Run Derby, Little Leag
ue Classic), and Zoom (London Series, Mexico Series) with two each

ds, Alek Manoah of the Blue Jays, Bobby Witt Jr. of the Royals, and Jeremy Pena
of the Astros with eight, followed by Aaron Judge, Ian Happ, Mike Trout (seven e
ach) and Francisco Lindor with six.
